Akbash puppy has arrived

He is here all safe and sound. He arrived at the airport Thursday night after a two day trip from Oregon. He is 11 weeks old and weighs over 36 lbs, (just a little guy). He and I spent the day out in the field with the sheep on and off yesterday, he is a bit shy but I don't think that will last to long. The llama is not excepting him at all he attempted to attack the puppy at one point in time, I am going to have to put the llama some where away from here for awhile until the pup gets bigger. The orphan lamb and the pup hang out together a lot, and the border collie Zack makes sure everyone stays just were their suppose to. The bigger sheep and baby's are all doing well and enjoying lots nice fresh pasture. Must go I think puppy may need to pee..

OK the picture of the building you see is a chicken coop. Unless we are growing some new breed of chicken called a SHEEP!!! I'm pretty sure that is not were that crazy sheep is suppose to be. I always leave the door open a crack for the hens to come and go as they please, but never did I expect it to turn into a sheep barn.. I'm not sure if she is unhappy in the other BIG barn or if she is just wondering what it would be like to be a chicken?? Who knows for sure.

Sheepy Sheepy Everywere!!!!!

They are finally home!



There are sheep every where . It is so great to have them home with me. It feels like a new beginning, one that I am truly grateful for. The move went by without a hitch thanks to the three guys that were there to help (Thanks so much guys). It feels a little surreal at this point, I wish you all could just hear them baaing away, they seem to be very happy running around discovering their new surroundings.. I wish I could understand sheep talk hehehe.

Oh yes and I must not forget to mention the little devil that has taken up residence in the house, he has adopted one of my rag rugs as his own, he has imprinted me and won't let me out of his site. He is a bottle baby that his mom was not producing enough milk for, so I became the mom, bottle feeding every two hours during the day until he gets strong enough to be put back with the herd.

And that it is, the first thing to greet me today was the few tulips that decided to open up over night as you can see from the picture. Next we move onto the sweet sounds of baby chicks chirping happily away, over to the barn and I am greeted by the two runt pigs with there welcoming snorts (because I have food for them of course) and last but not least the sheep hollering at me because I have left them for last. I ask you what more could a mother ask for? Oh yes, and of course there are the two legged children in my life that have greeted me with Happy Mothers Day wishes as well.

This little piggy!!!

Well it may seem that I have totally taken leave of my senses, but could anyone out there leave these two cute little runts behind? I ask you?? I went to visit my sheep on Friday with my friend Karin. They are still lambing but I should be able to bring them home in about a week or so. I was just going to check out the sheep, but one should never take a fellow farmer with you that is interested in pigs. After spending time with the sheep we took a walk over to the pig barn so
Karin could check out the breeding stock. Well there they were these little tiny runts just running around like they owed the place, the next words out of my mouth were that they were so cute!!! the next thing I knew was that they were in a box filled with hay in my hands and destine for my farm. So there you have it never take a fellow farmer to visit your sheep or you could end up with piggies. I luv it!!! Thanks L. they are wonderful..

Newest Additions

Well I figured if I'm going to be farming on a much larger scale, I might as well go for it. These are Black Aussie chicks ranging from one day old to ten days old. There are fourteen in total. I am hoping that the chicken gods do not bless me with to many roosters, but one never knows what will happen when you have a mixed bag. The sheep on the other hand I know immediately what I'm getting. I really like that whole concept much better. Well here it goes, just another adventure in farming and I do love farming. Ciaou for know.

Workin with color

Today is the day I just get to let my imagination run wild. I have a lime green color for a warp on the loom and ten brand new colors to work with, from green to blues to pinks to reds etc...I am even going to throw some of the frabjous silk fibres in the mix. I promise to take some pictures. Oh yes and by the way all the other colors WOOL of course.. Have a good one

New Day

As we go along in life what I have realized is there are doers and there are dreamers, and in the past week If I had any doubt about whether I was one or the other it became very clear that I am defiantly a doer. As a friend of my said you have gone from pause into fast forward, and that is exactly what it feels like. In a little more then a week I have gone from owning ten sheep into being the proud owner of forty some ewes, twenty plus lambs and a couple rams, life is good here on the farm.
